Proof of funds for UK and Canada visas, explained
Some visas set a fixed amount you must show; visitor visas don't, but you still need to show you can pay for the trip. These are the published figures for common routes.
Published figures
- UK Student: £1,529 a month in London or £1,171 a month elsewhere (up to 9 months), plus outstanding course fees, held for 28 consecutive days
- UK Family (partner): combined income of at least £29,000 a year, or qualifying savings
- Canada study permit: at least CAN$23,448 for a single student's first-year living costs outside Quebec, plus tuition and travel
- Canada Express Entry: at least CAN$15,263 for one person, more for larger families, unless exempt
Visitor visas
There's no fixed amount. Your statements should show you can cover the trip and that the money is genuinely available to you. Explain any large recent deposits.
